Spirits, Sadness, Choices and Love, Reflections from Traditional Teacher Daphie Pooyak

Jan 24, 2025

Everyone has their own belief and opinion. I believe strongly there’s no such thing as an alcoholic or drug addict. Creator gave us a name even before we came to our mother’s womb. The blood that runs through our umbilical cord is who we are. I believe we have childhood trauma of physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, spiritual abuse.

In my work in the area of so called "addictions and corrections" I’ve heard so many stories of abuse, neglect and abandonment.  I’ve sat down smudge, prayed and listened to hundreds of stories, all related to childhood trauma.

The problem I see is not enough spiritual awareness and teaching of how spiritual energy works. Not enough teachings of how to work on the spiritual parts of childhood trauma. Some days I’m full of hope and other days I feel depleted. Hate never brings healing, judgment doesn’t bring healing. Only love, understanding and compassion brings healing.

Through my work I’ve sat and listened to what people call gangsters, pedophiles, murderers. I think the hardest one for me was the child sexual abusers who came to me and told bold truth and said can you help me get those spirits out.

The ones we call hardcore criminals were the ones who understood themselves that spirits took over their bodies. So many I know before they became so hurt and violated and they were just children.

I’ve worked with people who have the innocence taken in such violent ways. They watch the world and tried to figure out how to protect themselves. Several pretended to be what the western world calls insane. Pretending to be insane was a form of protection from the outside world. Some became that way and lost their minds and ran away to a made up world were these violations didn’t exist. Missing souls and as they scattered themselves to not remember the pain and hurt.

Every person has free will and can choose or not choose healing. We can't force anyone to heal no matter how much you love them. No matter how much you beg and cry and offer solutions.

Some days this world makes me sad, some days I want to lay in bed n not go out. Every story I've been told I learn to let it go and send it to creator. Some days I'm full of life and love and hope. All those days matter and are equally important.

From my own experience sadness sends you to the deepest parts of your heart and soul. Sadness is also a beautiful teacher, and just as important as happiness. We find ourselves and a new way to view and bring compassion through sadness. I’m grateful for my sad days and I'm grateful for the happy days. It’s good to feel deeply and it's love that takes you there.

Love is not wrong, love is everything…
