I remember growing up in school some of the teachers would tell us rez kids that our stories are not true.

We have creation stories that are like maps. Those sacred sites all over Turtle Island and how they became. The stories about the first of creation having a home here and in the skies. We have mapped some of those stories and they match up with constellations.

They are NOT myths, we have proof of our creation stories. We can map the lands and the skies.

So to every person who told me otherwise as a child, I’d like to say I never believed you when you told me my ancestors were lying.

To those who told me not to believe, you never placed any form of doubt in me.

To those who lied, thank you. You pushed me so hard in life to go over and over our creations stories. You pushed me to connect and map out stories. You pushed me learn more and most of all to love and honour my grandparents, my ancestors.
